29.0 Chairman’s Report
29.1 Remembrance Sunday
Remembrance Sunday services went well despite the harsh weather. Cllr Kolassa attended the service at St Michael’s Church in Great Altcar. Unfortunately, because of the bad weather, the British Legion cancelled the parade through the village to the memorial which caused upset with the residents.
29.3 Gild Hall
Cllr Kolassa met with Formby Parish Cllrs and the Clerk to look at the Gild Hall and St Jeromes’ which are both up for lease. St Jerome’s is in a good state of repair, but it was agreed that the location is not ideal. The Gild Hall is situated in a central area, though it currently suffers from significant issues like dampness and poor overall condition. The anticipated expense required to restore it to operational status is projected to be substantial. If we can get funding, it could be a suitable space for a community centre, the Heritage Centre, and other uses.
29.4 Bills Lane Bench
Cllr Wield asked if two new benches could be installed at Bills Lane. It was agreed to look at this suggestion when reviewing the accounts at the next meeting.
